Don't judge the restaurant by the exterior, but on the chicken hanging at the counter right in front of the entrance. Although the decor of the restaurant is simply old and down to the earth, but it's really a hidden gem in Hat Yai.

The menu here at Mui Kee is straight-forward, there is no other foods or even side dishes here beside the chicken. However, the restaurant is usually packed especially during the lunch hour. People always said that a picture speaks a thousand words but at Mui Kee, it doesn’t.

If you thought the chicken rice here looks not attractive and assume that it's not mouth-watering, then you're wrong. The deboned chicken here is actually so tender and moist while the skin is sinfully smooth.

Hat Yai, a district located in Southern Thailand. Albeit it's not a bustling city like Bangkok and used to be a not well-developed city in the mind of the tourists, but over the years, there's a lot of changes in the city. Particularly, I noticed that the coffee culture has grown a lot in Hat Yai during my few recent trips to Hat Yai. I found that there are many hipster cafes available in the city now... the number of the cafe is even more than my hometown, Alor Setar.

If you are craving for seafood, but pondering where to go among the seafood restaurants or stalls at Sadao, you might want to consider this place as one of your options. Giant Crab Dannok ( ปูยักษ์ ด่านนอก) is located at Soi MBI 1. It's quite a challenge for those first visit because there's no proper GPS location on the map and there is no English or Chinese word on the signboard. Drive along Kanjanavanich Rd. until you see the 7-Eleven in front of M Hotel Danok, then turn left, drive straight and you will be able to see the restaurant on your left after passing the checkpoint. It's located on the opposite road before Danok Ganesh Temple. Although all the staffs are speaking Thai but there is a Chinese translation on the menu which able you to order your food easily.

Pretty much a find in Malaysia as well, Wanton Noodles are a hit in Thailand particularly at this little joint named Nanyuan. More options for the locals and tourists, Nanyuan Noodle has quietly started operating at Sadao, a small town in Thailand, better known as  Danok. The interior is clean, well-spaced and brightly-lit, seemingly a welcoming space. Albeit the staffs are all Thais but there's no barrier to order your foods because the food menu has duo language (Thai and English). Price-wise, I thought it's affordable and wallet-friendly as the main dishes here are priced between 45-65 baht. Worth-checking out if you are in the vicinity.
