Sulb opened its doors on the easy-to-remember date of 3 March 2022, has quickly risen through the ranks, and appeared as one of the most popular cafes in Alor Setar. The cafe adopts minimalist interior decor in shades of grey and white, with pebble stone flooring, polished cement seats, and tall trees to make the space even more charming and comfy. It makes me feel that I've returned to one of the popular cafes in Penang - Norm Micro. The foods offered here are quite attractive as those foods are rare to be seen in Alor Setar. Such as Egg Benedict, Croque Madame, Turkish Egg, Beef Quesadillas, Wiener Schnitzel, Chicken Cacciatore, and so on. Prices may be on the high side and wait times will be longer but given the cozy atmosphere and attractive menu, the place is worth checking out.
1st visit - 17 March 2022
It's hard for Cheese Lovers like us to resist Croque Madame (RM22.00), Chicken Slices-stuffed Sandwiches slathered, baked with Cheese, and pop a fried egg on top of the sandwich. The combination speaks for all, the country sourdough is crispy and the overall taste is pretty nice. If I must nitpick, it would be red onion... the taste of red onion is too bold. Wiener Schnitzel (RM23.00) is one of the most famous international dishes of Viennese cuisine. It is a type of schnitzel made of a thin, breaded, pan-fried chicken cutlet. The Wiener Schnitzel serving here is reasonably flavored with herbs and spices, nonetheless, it would be a little bit dry as this dish does not serve with sauces. Hence, in my opinion, it tastes even better with the side dishes provided, like salsa.

For sweets, we have the Strawberry Croissant (RM18.00). The Strawberry Croissant is surprisingly flaky, buttery, and delicious. The only downside is we think that the price is too high at RM18 each. Also worth mentioning is their coffee. Instead of the usual Americano or Black Coffee, you may select Filter Coffee which allows you to choose the coffee beans you preferred.

2nd visit - 4 May 2022
During the first visit, we didn't get the chance to try the Egg Benedict and Beef Quesadillas because those foods are not available during that time. Thus, we decided to revisit, just for those foods we crave. Unexpectedly after the whole month of the new opening, the food serving time still does not improve. We still have to wait a long time for our food to serve although just 2 tables of customers (including us) at that time.
Thankfully, the quality and taste of the food are still pretty good. The Beef Quesadillas (RM19.00) are so satisfying. The tortillas are crunchy with a delightful charred aroma, and the ground beef is well seasoning, moist and juicy with stretchy cheese. For Egg Benedict (RM28.00), overall, it is alright. The English Muffins here unlike the ordinary English Muffins we have, it is chewier and less prone to sogginess, even after being submerged in Hollandaise sauce for a while. The only downside is that the hollandaise sauce seemed overpowering and left a bold sour taste at the end.

It is worth mentioning that the Country Sourdough Bread (RM24.00) here is awesome and meets my preference. It is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and has a light wheat aroma. The airy texture of the Sourdough Bread makes the overall taste and texture even better. Albeit is a bit pricey at RM24.00 each, every time I visit, I will buy one to take home for sure.
