Handmade Dim Sum at Night @ Simpang Kuala, Alor Setar [GPS]

Dim Sum is the dish that prepared in the small bite-sized and served in the small bamboo steamer or basket. It can be found easily in the Chinese district because it's one of the favourite food for the Chinese. People will usually have it in the morning as breakfast. Although there is not a lack of Dim Sum restaurant in Alor Setar, but this is the only spot that Alor Setarian can have Dim Sum at night. This would be the perfect spot to satisfy those who are craving for Dim Sum but not able to have it in the busy morning.

Located in front of Restaurant Sin Hai Teng, this couple selling a wide range of handmade Dim Sum with their food truck about 6:30 pm onward. It's a great spot where the Alor Setarian can have the delectable Dim Sum in the evening. Worth to mention that the Dim Sum here is made and cook/steam on the spot instead of cooking at home. Since the business is operating by using the food truck, hence there is no seating for the diners. Nevertheless, it doesn't stop the customers to pay a visit.

Most of the dishes here do not disappoint me, the noteworthy is the Deep Fried Taro (炸芋角). It's made and fried on the spot. Not only that the Deep Fried Taro is crispy and fluffy, but the real draw is also the juicy and sweet BBQ Pork filling inside. Equally good is the Fried Chives Dumplings (韭菜盒子)... the generous amount of the chive is the reason that I would like to recommend it. Also not to be missed would be their Fried Shrimp Roll (炸虾卷). Though it can be found everywhere easily, but the highlight of this dish is there is a bouncy and plump shrimp wrapped inside with the shrimps and pork minced instead of just merely the shrimp and pork minced that we eat generally.
