[Revisit] Chan Kee Restaurant 赞记粥饭面家 @ Alor Setar [GPS]

Located at opposite night market Jalan Putra, the same row with the well-known stir-fried fish restaurant - Chin Venlin, Chan Kee is the Hong Kong-style roasted meat restaurant that opened in Alor Setar a year ago. The main selling point of Chan Kee is it provides the choices of noodles or rice for the diners because it's the only restaurant that serves noodles with roasted meat in Alor Setar. During my first visit, I thought that the foods here do not suit my liking because those foods are just normal and taste lighter... do not worth a shoutout. Nevertheless, during my visit recently, I found the foods here have much improved.

The Roasted Pork (Siu Yuk) which I tasted lighter before has a perfect right level of saltiness now, while the crispiness, it's still good as well. For the Barbecue Pork (Char Siew), it looks so attractive with its well-roasted appearance. It has a darker brown color than those Barbecue Pork with the pink and red color. It's surprisingly tasty with its thick savory-sweet soy sauce and a hint of sweet smokiness. The Roasted Duck-wise, though it may seem bland, but it's not bad too. The duck is tender and not too oily. It tastes even better with the sweet soy sauce drizzled on the Barbecue Pork. While for the noodles, though not outstanding, it is decent enough to go with the roasted meat.

Last but not least, the "Hor Ga Sai" (a beverage which is well-known in Taiping and Kuala Kurau that mixed with the local coffee and Milo) which the waiter introduced to me is surprisingly good with its thick flavor. The portion of the local coffee and Milo are at the perfect level.
