Cakes That Sold Out In 1 Hour - Luodong 羅東 @ Sungai Petani [GPS]

Luodong (羅東) has been taking social media channels by storm despite of its rather hidden location. Though it does not has the flashy outlook that would lure you in but once you are inside, you would be amazed by the various choices of homemade cakes at the cake counter. The name Luo Dong is actually the name of a place in Taiwan, Luodong Township and the reason the shop called "Luo Dong" is because it named after the hometown of the owner/pastry chef.

罗东虽然处于相当隐蔽的位置，但持续在社交媒体上掀起风潮。 虽然没有引人入胜的华丽外观但是一旦你进去，你会惊讶于蛋糕柜台上的各种自制蛋糕选择。 罗东这个名字实际上是台湾罗东镇一个地方的名字，之所以称之为“罗东”，是因为它以店主/糕点师的家乡命名。

I'd always been asked is it worth to queue so long for a piece of cake... and even pay the visit again and again even though not staying in Sungai Petani. Here's the answer!

One of the reasons Luo Dong has gain popularity rapidly is because of its various choices of unique yet attractive cake, such as the Matcha Taro Cake,  Black Sesame Sweet Potatoes Cake, Earl Grey Crepe Cake, Fruit Tarts and so on. The most important is all the cakes provided in the store are made from the fresh ingredients without preservative and baked daily to ensure the quality of the cake.

很多人总是问我是否值得为了一块蛋糕大排长龙... 即使不住在双溪大年，也一次又一次地回访。 这就是答案！


罗东迅速普及的原因之一是因为其独特而有吸引力的各种蛋糕的选择，如抹茶芋蛋糕，黑芝麻地瓜蛋糕，伯爵茶蛋糕，水果挞等。 最重要的是，商店提供的所有蛋糕均采用新鲜食材制成，不含防腐剂，每日烘烤，以确保蛋糕的质量。

Though all the cakes we'd been tried are pretty good but in my opinion, the taste of the certain ingredients are not bold/strong enough. For example, the Black Sesame Sweet Potatoes Cake, I thought that the taste of sweet potatoes is much stronger than the black sesame base. However, I must admit that the ingredients used are all fresh and high quality... it did not feel 'cheap' and redundant. 

虽然我们尝试的所有蛋糕都很不错，但依我而言，某些成分的味道不够浓烈。 例如，黑芝麻地瓜蛋糕，我认为地瓜的味道比黑芝麻的味道强很多。 但是，我必须承认这里所使用的成分都是新鲜和高品质的... 不会感觉“便宜”和多余。

Apart from the homemade cakes, you may also enjoy the authentic Taiwanese Braised Minced Pork Rice and Minced Pork Noodles here. The owner provides Curry Noodles, Dry Curry Noodles, and Rice Vermicelli Soup for the customers who preferred local dishes. I highly recommend the Braised Minced Pork Rice because it's the best ever I'd so far. The minced pork is so juicy and not greasy. 

除了自制蛋糕外，您还可以在这里品尝正宗的台湾卤肉饭和肉燥面。 业主也为喜欢当地菜肴的客户提供咖喱面，干咖喱面和米粉汤。 我强烈推荐这里的卤肉饭，因为它是我迄今为止所做吃过最好的。 这里的卤肉多汁而且不油腻。

Besides that, I also love the Dry Curry Noodles serving here. The Dry Curry Noodles is pretty decent with the well-combination of curry and soy sauce, also the homemade Chili Paste heightens the flavors by adding an extra chili kick.

除此之外，我也喜欢在这里的干咖喱面。 干咖喱面与咖喱和酱油的完美结合相当不错，自制的辣椒酱也添加了额外的辣味。

*P/S: Here's a warm recommendation: Please visit earlier to avoid disappointment because all the cakes here are selling fast, especially during the public holiday :)
