Yut Kee Restaurant 镒记 @ Jalan Kamunting, Kuala Lumpur [GPS]

Founded in 1928, Yut Kee has served at least four generations of KL-ians. It is a restaurant that needs no further introduction because it is one of the oldest and famous kopitiam that serves the nostalgia of old-time Chinese comfort food in Kuala Lumpur. The restaurant is highly renowned for its Roasted Pork Roll, Hainanese Chicken Chop, Roti Babi, Hailam Mee, Signature Marble Cake and more. Yut Kee does not only serve its customers with lunch but also breakfast as well, and it's mostly peaked especially during lunch hour and weekend.

镒记成立于1928年,至少服务过四代的吉隆坡人。 它是一家不需要进一步介绍的餐厅,因为它是吉隆坡最古老和最着名的茶餐厅之一。 镒记以其烧肉片,海南鸡扒,Roti Babi,海南面,招牌大理石蛋糕等而闻名。镒记不仅为客户提供午餐,还提供早餐,特别是在午餐时段和周末时,店内店外都挤满了不少的顾客。






We are purposely here for their best-seller Pork Roll and Hainanese Chicken Chop but so bad the Roasted Pork Roll is not available during our visit because it's only available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10:45 am onward. Hence, we ordered Hainanese Chicken Chop, Hokkien Mee (Fried Dai Loke Mian), Glass Noodles Soup (Tung Fun Soup), and Toast Bread with Kaya & Butter at last.

我们是为了专程为了镒记畅销的烧肉卷和海南鸡扒而光临的,但是很不幸的是在我们光临镒记的时候没有烧肉卷,因为它仅在周五,周六和周日上午10:45起开始出售。因此,我们最后点了海南鸡扒,福建面(炒大碌面),冬粉汤和烤吐司面包。



Taste: 7.5 (1 bad → 10 good) 

The Hainanese Chicken Chop consisted of egg battered chicken chop with mixed frozen vegetables and fried wedges and lastly drenched with the savoury brown sauce. The meat is quite tender and juicy especially when it soaked up the brown gravy.

海南鸡扒是由蛋汁包裹着的鸡扒,冷冻蔬菜和炸薯块组成的,最后淋上美味的棕色酱汁。炸鸡扒的肉很嫩,也很多汁,特别是当它浸泡在棕色肉汁里时更美味。

Hokkien Mee selling at Yut Kee is also known as Fried Dai Loke Mian in Kedah, Penang, and Ipoh, which means big fat noodles. Its springy texture making it irresistible for the noodles lovers as like me.

镒记的福建面在吉打州,槟城和怡保也被称为炒大碌面,既是一款很粗的面条。面条弹性的质地,使得像我一样的面条爱好者不可抗拒。

Judging by rave reviews for the Toast Bread with Homemade Kaya and Butter got from various sources, I felt it was overrated because it's just an ordinary toasted toast. The texture of the kaya is grainy and clumpy and it has a weird smell of coconut milk. The Glass Noodles Soup is also just ordinary, and it's considered pricey because it cost RM 7.50 for only some green veggies, bean sprouts, 2 or 3 fishballs and few slices of thin fish cakes.

从网上获得的好评来看,我觉得镒记烤面包配Kaya和牛油被高估了,因为它只是一个普通的烤吐司,因为kaya的质地是颗粒和块状,而且它有一种奇怪的椰奶气。 冬粉汤也很普通,价格上也算蛮贵的,因为冬粉汤里只有一些蔬菜,豆芽,2或3个鱼丸和几片鱼饼,一碗就需要7.50令吉了

Overall, albeit some dishes in Yut Kee are not that good as expected but undoubtedly there are still some delectable dishes serving here, and I'm still looking forward to paying a visit again for their Roasted Pork Roll in the future.

总体而言,虽然镒记一些食物并不像预期的那么好,但毫无疑问,这里仍然有一些美味的食物,我也很期待将来再次光临来尝试他们的招牌烧肉卷。
